Let’s get a few things down really well before we enter the busy holiday season. Making things a habit helps us do automatically even when life happens. Have you ever been feeling so on top of things, keeping up with all the things, then something in life happens and all of a sudden all the little things fall by the wayside? If we do a few things daily, it will make a huge difference later. We want our 85 year old self thanking us for taking care of our bones, and muscles and all other things that start to ache a little lol. Here are a few things that I want you to check out to see if you are adding to your routine….
Water – yes, good ole water. We tend to overlook drinking water. Water hydrates our body, carries our nutrients, flushes toxins out, regulates our metabolism and body temperature, reduces inflammation, and we could go on and on. Drink your water. I suggest drinking half you weight in ounces. If you weight 170 lbs then try to drink 85 ounces of water. Especially in the morning. Get your body back hydrated when you wake up.
Limit Sugar and Flour- Nutrition plays a crucial role in how we feel both physically and emotionally. As we age, it's essential that we focus on a balanced diet that provides the necessary nutrients your body needs. By Including more fruits and vegetables can combat fatigue and support hormonal balance. We all could use more energy and less hot flashes! Adding lean proteins like chicken, fish, eggs, lentils and even beans can help stabilize our blood sugar and keep energy levels steady. I had no idea much better I feel by eating more of a balanced diet. What limit flour and sugar? Well, it keeps us away from processed foods which do not keep us full. By adding nutrient dense foods (foods with 1-3 ingredients) keeps us more balanced!
Move- Plan on getting some type of exercise daily. Something to move your body. Does not have to be a big ole program. Just add some movement. Not only is it good for physical health but also for our mood and keeping our hormones balanced. When we move our bodies, it releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. And with all the news out there today, we could use some mood lifters! Moving also helps regulate our hormone levels and improve our sleep quality. So, don’t park up close. Park away at the grocery store, and when running errands, take the stairs. Remember we are taking care of our 85 year old self! She will thank us...
Sleep- Sounds almost silly but making sure your body gets plenty of rest. It may need 6 hours or 9 hours, you should know. I don’t have to tell you this but our body repairs itself when we are sleeping. So, give it plenty of time to repair us!
Sunshine- Helps with our moods. Don’t blow this off. Even if you just sit my a window. Get your sunshine.
FUN! And you knew I would add it. No matter what it is, we got to either laugh or giggle even if it is watching silly dog videos. Add something in your day that makes you smile

PS...I plan on doing this blog for another 20 years...so buckle up buttercup and do your stuff! Cheers to life!
