When I was in high school, I always thought that I would be a homemaking teacher. Yes, isn’t that almost funny now. I so much enjoyed taking sewing and cooking. When I left for college, for a short time, I wanted to major is some type of social work but ended up majoring in home economics. Luckily, I had to take many of the fashion merchandising courses so it was not a waste due to the fact I was in the retail fashion industry for over 35 years. And, I still enjoy cooking.
Anyway, why be a coach now? About 12 or so years ago, I was a complete mess. I was not happy in my job, my kids were grown, and I was feeling unfulfilled in some unknown way. As I have mentioned before, I did not know it was me that was a problem. I was looking for someone or something to blame. Fortunately, I found a podcast, started listening to it and fixing my thoughts, feelings, habits, and it changed my life. Yes, it was a coach on a podcast. I was learning to coach myself. I am amazed that we have complete control of our thoughts and if we can learn to control our crazy brains, we can accomplish almost anything.
So, what is a life coach? We listen to our clients and find out want in life and what is holding them back from getting there. Yes, we help them by navigate through all the thoughts and feelings to get there! Yes, some of us have a specific program that we follow to ensure success. It is interesting how some client want more energy, some less anxiety, and many want to lose weight. I have a client who simply wants a better relationship with her daughter. I am such a believer in coaching that I get coached regularly and coach myself daily. In other words, have you ever said to yourself, I am going to start working out. You commit, you decide on the program, the time, and day, and begin. Your feeling great, then the newness wears off, life gets in the way, and you stop. A year later, you try it again. And, again, maybe two years later. Before you know it, ten years have passed. Yes, that was me. Totally me. A HOT MESS. Not anymore. I have learned or still learning, LOL, how to control my brain. It is a work in progress!

So, why become a coach now? It is a new-found purpose. A purpose that helps me help others become the best version of themselves and yes at any age. If I can re-take college algebra at 60 years old, anyone can do anything. It was not easy, and yes, probably the most uncomfortable thing I have ever done. However, it proved to me that I can do anything if I learn that being uncomfortable is not bad. In fact, to step out of the ordinary, is a path to extraordinary. You can do it. Get coached!
Have a great day!
