The Power of the Slight Edge: How Small Choices Lead to Big Change

What if I told you that your everyday, seemingly insignificant decisions are either working for you—or against you?

That’s the heart of The Slight Edge, a book I am reading by Jeff Olson that reminds us success doesn’t come from massive leaps, but from the small, consistent steps we choose to take each day.

Olson’s message is simple:

“Simple daily disciplines—little productive actions, repeated consistently over time—add up to the difference between failure and success.”

It’s not about doing huge things. It’s about doing the small things that are easy to do—but just as easy not to do. Things like going for a walk, drinking water instead of soda, saying no to one more episode and yes to rest, or reading 10 pages of a good book. None of these actions will change your life overnight—but compounded over time, they change everything.

The Slight Edge is always working. Every choice you make either puts you on an upward curve toward success or a downward curve toward regret. The good news? You’re in control of which curve you’re on.

This is especially empowering for women over 50 who may feel stuck or think it’s “too late.” Olson’s philosophy proves it’s never too late—because change starts with a single choice, repeated with intention.

So today, ask yourself:**What’s one small thing I can do today that my future self will thank me for? I am going to continue my 5 minute yoga but add lunges afterwards.

5 minutes a day..... You got this.
5 minutes a day..... You got this.

Have a beautiful day.
