Pamper and show love to your aging skin....

Do I really pamper my skin? I am not quite sure that would be a good description according to a professional esthetician. I do not sleep in my make-up and never have. I read once that each time that you sleep in your make-up, you age seven years! Oh my, I took this to heart. I remember reading this article well over 35 years ago. That long ago, I know I did not do all the things that I do now, I just washed my make-up off before brushing my teeth. Yes, there have been a few times that I fell asleep and had to get up and take off during the night (a few times after a wedding or two). I would guess that the last ten years have been my best. This is when I really started discovering myself and what I wanted out of life. Sounds so cliché but I did start paying more attention to who and what made me feel alive and happier. Taking care of yourself is the best place to start if you want to feel good and feel happier. I promise. It is not the best house, the coolest car, lavish vacations, or the eating at the best restaurants. I believe taking care of your body AND mind is extremely important. Now, do not freak out. But you know I have told you before, your thoughts create your feelings so keep those thoughts in control. They are only thoughts, and might not be accurate, so watch them closely. Enough of our thoughts (we will cover this soon again).

I think I have shared with you in the past, my skin regimen, but wanted to review since it has been extremely dry, and I have paid very close attention to my aging skin. Many times, I have googled and checked on the pros and cons of certain steps and made sure that I was doing what I thought was best. I have dry skin, so I concentrate on what works well for dry skin. I do this morning and night but switch to a heavier night cream for my moisturizer at night.

1. Wash you face using a gently wash. I have used many types, and all seem okay. Always be gentle with your skin. Do not rub harshly. Our elasticity is not as good as it used to be😒.

2. Exfoliate. I do this in the shower, but some do after they wash their face. Some say daily is best. As long as it is gentle, I would agree. I do daily in the shower first thing.

3. Use a toner after washing your face. This helps balance the ph. I think it makes me feel like I have a very clean face. I use one made for dry skin.

4. Aging Serum. Yes, this was not a big deal for me years ago. I would use because one of my cosmeticians (my retail days) would sell me on it. But now, I am a firm believer in it. I read that it really goes deep into your skin before you moisturize.

5. Moisturize. It is funny, I was researching different good moisturizer and there are a lot to choose from. Pick on that feels good on your skin. I think it is like an eating plan. Eat what feels good to you. Some of these diets are crazy. That is a topic for later.

6. Use sunscreen! I was not good at this for a long time. In fact, until recently, I started using daily. I even keep a tube in my car so if I forget and heading out to the park for a run, I have it.

7. Take your vitamins. These will help in skin repair, or at least is what they say. I know it helps with our aging bones so just do it.

8. And finally, this is new for me! A silk pillowcase. My niece bought me a new silk pillowcase and I thought, oh that is pretty? Hmm. See, we are never too old to learn. I read the instructions🤷‍♀️, or should I say statements on why I should love this pillowcase. It helps with aging skin. My niece totally gets it💕. She knows her Aunt is a little vain about her looks. I admit it.

So, that is it. I do use a mask a couple times a month and try to get facials occasionally but do not think it is a must. I think drinking plenty of water, (not drinking too much wine), will help as well. I wanted to share this because I have had extremely dry skin and upped my game by drinking more water, using a new mask-which I felt like I had just had a facial. I have also started using serum in the morning which I used to do only at night.

One of the bloggers that I follow shared a mask that she loved so I ordered and must admit, it felt like I had a profession facial! It is the FOREVER GLOW Anti-aging Face mask. Yep you can order directly or on amazon. It was $20 but worth every bit. Like I said, I felt like I had just been to a spa.

Hope you got some benefit for reading this post! I enjoy writing it. I feel like I am having a conversation with some friends and love sharing my thoughts! Have a wonderful day! Wear that sunscreen!
