I listened to one of my favorite podcasts and she was telling us how she sets out each morning with the intent to have an awesome day. She admitted that each day is not alway going to go as planned but start it out on the right foot. There are many things we can do to make each day a little more special. What makes us feel like we had an awesome day? Maybe not awesome but what makes us say we had a good day? Surely, we do not have the same list. However, let’s talk about planning a awesome day, and how adding things in our daily routine to make each day a little more awesome!
In the podcasts, she encourages us all to plan out our day first thing. I too agree that if I start my day with a plan, I feel so much more energized in the morning. You might plan your day as a day to relax. That would still be consider as a “planned” day. Of course, not everything goes as planned. Do not beat yourself up. Life happens. Some of you might head to work in hopes to get a specific report done but your boss has a different plan. Again, things happen. Let it be and then move on. Get back on track and keep up with the plan. We do not want don’t the “procrastination” buddy telling us to watch Netflix instead of cooking a delicious dinner🤦♂️. Let's do our best to make good choices throughout our day so we can lay down at night and know that we did out best.

We need to move. She recommends that those who work out, stick with your plan of working out. We tend to spend time beating ourselves up for not sticking to our workout routine. Just do it. If you do not workout, move. Take the stairs or walk to the door and back. Moving gets our blood pumping and naturally makes us feel better. I think a quick walk outdoors does wonders. I have seen Louis come down stairs, walk around the pool and go back upstairs to work again. He told me it helps him calm down if he is upset. Great advice. It is a 5 minute recharge. Each day, move and it might just add to having an awesome day.
This piece of advice was very interesting. Dress up. I laughed and said “I dressed up for 38 years and so excited about not having to get dressed up every day” so wanted to veto that idea! However, after she explained what she meant, I really liked the advice. If you work from home or are retired, don’t put on clothes in the morning that you would not want to answer your front do in without being embarrassed. LOL, we are probably all guilty of this. When we look good, it naturally makes us feel good. She goes in explaining that the tattered pj’s and the stained t shirt is not working for us. Change it. Put on your best pj’s or your best comfort clothes each day. When heading to work, spend a little more time getting dressed. Again, we usually feel good when we look good! Remember, the idea is to do a little bit more to make each day a little bit more awesome. I actually got rid of two pair of shorts in my drawer! They were hideous. I found that by washing my face, moisturize it, brushing my teeth, and brushing my hair first thing in the morning, makes me feel so much better. I like to sit and drink my coffee in the morning feeling “awake” and ready for the day.
Each day we should add some type of indulgent! Wow, I perked up on this idea. All of us have things that we enjoy such as music, a small piece of chocolate, a hot cup of cocoa or tea, etc. She expresses that it has made a huge impact on her life. Adding something to the mundane routine of your day is rewarding. I am going to play music while preparing dinner. I have done this many times but usually on weekends. I am going to try doing more often. I already have a piece of chocolate after dinner. We have all heard the stories about not saving the china for special occasions or saving your grandmothers crystal for some “special” day. Use it often, use it now. Go ahead, set the table each day with a little more effort. Let’s use all of our things now and help make today awesome!
Lastly, I enjoyed that she likes to celebrate the wins. In other words, be grateful for what we have. Adding gratitude is always good! Hope you enjoyed!

Below is a recipe that is quick and easy and is perfect for a cold day. If you remember the Parade that came in Sunday’s paper, that is where I found this recipe many years ago.
Easy Spicy Chicken Soup
2 32 oz Cartons of Chicken Broth, I use low sodium
1 Rotisserie Chicken, deboned (or make your own), debone and cut into bite size pieces
2 cans of Cannellini Beans, drained and rinsed
1 Jar of your favorite Salsa Verde or make your own!
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper if needed!
Pour the broth into a big pot, add the chicken, beans, and salsa, and heat up. Add the cumin. Simmer for at least 30 minutes. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese and slices of avocado.
