Imagining or visualize what you want…and get it?

Can it be that simple to just imagine or visual want you want and get it? Well, maybe not just by imagining a brand-new Louis Vuitton LOL. But, imagery and visualization are something that is being used in many ways. I am taking a sport and exercise psychology class and am really enjoying and last week was how elite athletes use imagery to improve their process and or skills both physical and psychological. What is amazing is that psychologist have been using visualization for years to help people enhance their performances skills, emotional states, and to achieve life goals. Yes, shooting hoops to playing the piano, visualization has helped. Our brain is constantly using visualization in the process of simulating future experiences, but this process happens so naturally that we are pretty much not even aware that it is going on! Kind of the same way we are usually unaware that we are breathing. If we aren't aware of the brain doing this, then we are not actively directing the process. We can all learn to use visualization to actively create future situations that can help us improve our chances of reaching our goals. For instance, if you are not in shape and want to begin a walking program, visualization can help. We can visualize us walking briskly on a track with ease and comfort and reaching a 2-mile marker. Or, how about visualizing us wearing our favorite pair of jeans that have been too tight for the last two years? There are two ways in which we can improve by using visualization. We can visual the process such as working out with a muscular body and eating a healthy dinner, or we can use the outcome….the fit slim new fit body. Or maybe, visualize a clean new garage to encourage us to get out there are do some major cleaning. We can visualize the process or the outcome, both are going to be beneficial. It helps us get motivated to make changes in order to reach our goals. The more we visualize, the more it will seem real to use.

So, what is a goal that we want to reach? I want a better prepared fall garden and a cleaner garage. I am going to start visualizing both! I am not sure what my garage looks like cleaned. It has never been in great shape. I am not sure if I have ever seen the top of the work bench in there. This is going to be a struggle. I think I better start with the visualization of the process of one or might just get overwhelmed. Let’s start small! Hmmm. I hope this works!

On another note, had a wonderful Girls trip to Broken Bow! Fall is in the air! Leaves are just beginning to change. Stores are loading in the pumpkins and yes, Christmas is right around the corner. This is one of my favorite times of the year.

Have a beautiful day!
