I love the fall season. Living with Texas summers can be brutal. Being cooped up in air-conditioned homes and offices can make us cranky and in need of some time outdoors. Fall is about football, school carnivals for the kids, and walks in our neighborhood. Most importantly, it can be a fresh start for a habit or routine to welcome the season. Sometimes all need is a new beginning, a fresh start, to begin or reimplement a new habit and or routine. Instead of waiting for the new year, we simply can start with a new month, or in this case, a new season. Sometimes our commitments to ourselves just don’t pan out as planned. No reason to beat ourselves up and feel bad with all the negative self-talk. Let’s just take a few minutes and find things that we want to do or implement and get to work. First, I sit and think of what is going well, what is not. You know, the habits that I tried and just did not stick. Yep, I had a few that just fell to the wayside. Oh well, let’s reevaluate. A like a fresh start on my calendar, daily routine, house projects, and my very favorite…a fall fashion spruce up get me motivated! I get excited when we get close to Labor Day weekend knowing that fall is right around the corner. By then, I am tired of the heat, tired of my wardrobe and ready for a few new things. My calendar is a good start. I sat down to make sure that trips are clearly marked, commitments for school are charted, and any other engagements are all fully listed on my calendar. I have a hard copy calendar on my desk. I use the hard calendar for long term commitments. I then use google calendar for a week of planning. This way, adding my commitments into my weekly calendar around my working appointments makes it easier to keep track of. Honestly, I like the google calendar because it sends me alerts!! Sometimes, I do need that alert. Have you ever just completely forgot a meeting or appointment that had been penciled in for weeks? I have and felt so disorganized, stupid, and you know all the negative things we can say about ourself but never say to someone else. Not sure why that is. Another topic for another blog post. Again, I like to revisit my daily routines and see where I have got a little sloppy…tapered off maybe and get that whipped back into shape. For instance, I announced that I am going to cook at least one new recipe a week. That did not happen. Or, I am going to give myself a facial mask at least once a week. Did not happen. I did add drinking water continuously throughout the day! I did not do so well on the other January Fresh starts, or resolutions some of us like to call them. That word just tells me of failures lol.
I was listening to a seminar yesterday and have something for us to ponder on this week. It is not motivation that keeps us doing the things we want to do but commitment. Motivation dies off, but if we are committed, it can stay. When life happens, motivation wavers. How true is this? I sat and laughed at all the times I got motivated about something and then do well for a couple days, then something messes up my routine and the motivation sizzled out. Anyway, ponder on the times we have been motivated and not committed.
Now for my favorite, Fall wardrobe freshen up time! I enjoy this time of the years changing from summer to fall. Fall is so much more exciting to purchase new items. For some reason, I feel there are way more choices. Living in Texas, we do not own very many spring sweaters or any tops with much texture due to the heat. We do have very cold air-conditioned restaurants and movie theaters but we usually just take a cardigan to cover our arms so we can remove once outside. There are so much rich colors to choose from, fabric choices, and layering options available in the fall season. I enjoy wearing scarfs and layering with cardigan and jackets. So, what are we adding or digging out of our closets this year? I did some research on trends for Fall 2022.
Here we go:
COLORS: This fall season is full of color! I am so excited. I enjoy wearing color. I have olive skin and do not wear neutrals close to my face. I get so washed out. Tomato Soup RED, Ocean Blue, Mellow Yellow, Barbie Pink, Bold Orange, Zesty Lime, and of course Tan and Browns. Go buy a barbie pink blouse! Or, how about a motto jacket? I own a lot of red. It has always been one of my favorites.

PRINTS: Animal. Yes, I said animal prints are a trend. They really never go away but you will see all types of animal prints from zebra to leopard. They are going to be everywhere. I am sure we all own many animal print tops.
Fabrics: Denim, Lace, Mesh, Sheer, Tweed, and LEATHER-both real and faux. Shearling trims. I just bought a new ocean blue lace top. So excited to wear.
Silhouettes: High waist jeans, baggy jeans, cropped jackets, oversized jackets, motto jackets, maxi dresses, and corset tops. I am not sure about a corset top, it sounds uncomfortable.
Shoes: Sporty sneakers, chunky loafers, mules, heels with angles, western style boots, ankle boots, and over the knee boots. I love boots. I am thrilled about the western trend as well. Maybe a slight chunky loafer.
Accessories: Bangles bracelets, which I have always liked. Chokers! This is fun. I so remember wearing chokers. All kinds are all over the magazines. Scarves and kerchiefs are making a comeback. Chunky pearl necklaces and earrings.
Handbags: Shoulder bags, Xlarge big tote or shopping bags, and the crescent bag. Not sure about the crescent bag, it is a little small.
This was fun. Going through magazines and ready up articles on fashion. I guess after well over 20 years of doing each season, I still enjoy doing. I always enjoy knowing what is the new looks and have fun incorporating them each season. I think I am on the look out for something barbie pink! And, what about a choker? Hmm.
Enjoy your day!

In Texas, western is always in style. I am up to 6 pair of western boots but wear athletic shoes most of the time now.
