Are you being positive about the situation? Or just optimistic?

I stumbled across this being discussed and really wanted to think about it. I have generally described myself as a person who sees the glass half full. I have mentioned to my husband that he sees the glass half empty. He corrects me and call himself a realist🤦♂️. So, what are the differences between being positive or being optimistic? To be an optimist we assume that everything will work out in the end. Okay, I do tend to tell myself this all the time. It will all work out. I do have faith that everything will work out and things happen for reasons sometimes unknown, but we can figure it out. Being positive can be mind over matter and can sometimes be blind. When things that are unfortunate happen simply by being positive will not get us to a better place. We need to get to work on how to make it better. When we are optimistic, we are thinking of the future and how to get there best. Being positive creates a feeling for the present moment. After pondering on the difference between being positive or optimistic, I do believe there is a time for both and knowing when to be one or the other is important. If we are in a single moment that is not going to affect anything in the future, we can just simply choose to be positive and move on. For instance, bad service in a restaurant where you usually love to dine. We are probably better off to be positive and making the most of a bad situation and forgetting about. Being optimistic would be to know that it is usually good service, thinking that the waiter might have been having a bad night, and know it will be better next time.
