Hello My Absolutely Beautiful Friends! I hope all of you are well! Today is my first attempt at starting a blog. I have had an incredible journey in the last few years AGING and want to bring a community of fashionable fun women together and share my experiences with age and heading to my own perfection. Now, by no means do I pretend to be perfect but why not have an attitude of “why not now”? It is never too late to start improving and being your best future self! When I turned 50, I seemed a little lost. My kids were grown and on their own, my career was stagnant, my husband seemed to just want to work and tend to his man duties, and on top of that, I had lost my mom. I went through a rough spot trying to figure it all out. After much soul searching and trying many things, I realized that I was going to work on me. I was looking outward for happiness and realized I needed to start with me. So, I started first with finding things I enjoyed and made me happy. I began making list and trying different things. From gardening, bread baking, pulling weeds when bored, house chores, music, yoga, and many other things. Some made it on my list, and others fell by the wayside. One of the things I tried was going back to school. I realized very quickly that I still enjoyed Psychology. In one of my classes, they made us write a personal mission statement. This is when it began to change for me. I took a class and they wanted us to write a personal mission statement. I believe I had done one previously, maybe at least 40 years prior, and how in the heck would I know what and how I wanted to live! So, I spent some time on what was important to me. Yes, I tweak it now and then, but it still is fairly the same. Other than doing things from the heart, honestly, and authentically, I refer to most of it as LCL. This is what it boils down to: Lean mind and body, Connections, and Learning. In other words, let me break it down. Lean mind and body: Keep control over my mind. Work on controlling negative unproductive thoughts that are only thoughts and most likely not factual. Our thoughts create our feelings. So, we need to work on those thoughts. (I will have more about that later!) I try to practice having more gratitude and patience daily. Continue working on a lean body. Daily exercise and finding ways to keep moving. Eat well. Okay, most of the time. I enjoy wine, dark chocolate, sugar cookies, Starbuck’s vanilla scones, chips and salsa, and many other unhealthy choices but with moderation. Connection: Be a better listener (I am better but still must focus). Be a better wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend, without judgment, but always with love, support, and compassion. In other words, work on truly connecting with others. I have read many books and want to first and foremost be better at listening. Learn: Always learning and growing. Keep moving towards perfection. Just like a beautiful bottle of red wine. Aging well! Let’s have a growth mindset. It is never ever too late to try and do something better or even different. So, everything that I want to talk about on blog will be tied to LCL. It may be one of the many books that I read that was so inspiring, and I would like to share, or a recipe that was delicious, and easy to master, or maybe a new shampoo or lipstick that I am loving. If you want to have an attitude of “I am aging towards perfection”, then you are in the right spot. I want us to grow and get better at life!! So, join me each Saturday morning with a cup of coffee or tea and join me on my blog.
