Aging well and looking fabulous in Fall 2021.....

I have always been intrigued with fashion. I was never a complete trend follower but always wanted to know what was happening in the fashion world. I remember going to the Donnie Osmond concert and I just had to have purple velvet pants with a cream body suit and chocolate moccasins. Donnie’s favorite color at the time was purple. I also reminded you guys that I had to have the CPO jacket when I was in middle school. My college roommate was a fashion merchandising major and yet she has been a flight attendant for Delta well over 35 years and travels all over the world. I, on the other hand, told her that I wanted to be a Home Economics teacher🤔. Luckily, I was able to put the textiles to use as well as the cooking and nutrition education. Having been in the fashion retail business over 35 years, I have always followed but never wanted to think about reusing or reinterpreting the trends. I wanted you all just to go out and re buy! Now, I look at my closet and think about what I need to freshen up.
Today, lets freshen up and look at what we own and what we can add. First and foremost, my suggestion is to only wear what fits and feels good. This is a must. If you feel good, you will look even better. Separate your closet for items that fit well and those that do not. It is okay to have your fat cloths. We all do. The skirt that fits too snug on the hips, just move back for your skinny days. Next, we are going to go through the list and find these items in our closets and finish the look. Listed below are some things showing up in the fashion world that any at any age can wear and still look great. Do we need a tee or a turtleneck? Maybe the loafers? I am going to pull some looks from my closet and send to you on an email!
Plaid Jacket with tee shirt and jeans. I think this is my favorite. Take a career plaid jacket and wear a white tee underneath with jeans. Looks so new and fresh. I have seen this all over the fashion bloggers. Tees with "sayings" are fun! Keep in nice😁!

Button downs. I do not own very many, but do not need to. Just re-interpret the look. Stripes and solids, layered or not, jeans or trousers. Very preppy but fun.
Vests. Yes, I am seeing mostly sweater vest but vest on important and could be fun.
Chunky sweaters! I love this. Easy and comfortable.
Shine! Yes, sequins are in. I enjoy pairing a sequin top with jeans. Such a fun look.
Plaid. You can wear a plaid jacket, button down, on knit. Plaid is happening. I prefer a soft feminine palette so I don’t feel like a lumber jack.

Fringe. I have seen on jackets, handbags, ponchos and wraps. Such a great look with boots.
Loafers. Flat loafers look so fresh with a pair of trousers and a nice crisp woven. So preppy but chic.
Denim and Chambray pieces. Wovens, skirts, dresses, and of course jeans are a must.
Bold colors but yes BLUSH is big as well. I have seen lots of social dresses in blush tones and love the look. I prefer personally BOLD for me. Red, Chartreuse, Purple, all the bold ones!
Clogs. How fun. I use to wear clogs all the time. I have a pair of Coach clogs that I just dug out! Wo hoo! Tennis shoes are still cool to wear. Yes, that chunky sole on shoes is huge but think it is a little young for me😁. Now, there are other things that I did not mention but are fun. Midi skirts and dresses past the knee, tops with sayings, yellow handbags, etc. I just picked some more classic and timeless styles that always seem to resurface!
More looks on how to pull it together!

Check out these silver clogs. My clogs are a saddle brown leather but these are so fun!

I myself have never paid a lot of attention to what is the fashion of the times. I’m a fluffy girl and people can see that. I sure don’t need to wear my clothes all squeeze up on myself, so I tend to wear my clothes bigger and what is comfortable.
I do love keeping up with this janeellenblog!
I missed this one last week! This is a hard one for me.
